New Haven's Hottest...
About our Instructors

Lori Bonazzoli, Owner
At the age of 17 I tried out a few yoga poses I had been shown and shortly there after I designed my first sequence I rigidly performed every morning followed by seated meditation. The first teacher I studied with was through a school called spiritual human yoga (SHY). I underwent a deep practice of seated meditation, had my chakras(energy centers) opened and learned how to channel energy to perform hands on healing. Upon graduation I began to feel a shift in my existence, consciously, energetically, internally and externally... I knew I was onto something... I arbored my own personal practice for some time expanding my knowledge through books and experienced practitioners I met along the way.  At age 21 I found my second teacher and she guided me through my first asana sequence in a heated room. By the time 90 minutes was over I was determined to become a Bikram Yoga instructor. The next four years of my life were dedicated to "perfecting" my practice before I put myself through the rigorous 9 week program where we performed the same 26 asanas twice daily, learned the anatomy and physiology, and focused on Yoga culture and spirituality. It was at the end of this training I realized there is no perfect posture, that yoga is endless and there is always something new to do and learn. Over the past three years I have taught Bikram Yoga throughout state of Connecticut, some in New York, Colorado, and San Diego, California. Within the past 3 years my own personal practice has evolved far beyond just those 26 asanas. I began practicing Baptiste Power Yoga, Forrest Yoga and Dharma Mittra Vinyasa. I am continuously increasing my knowledge of the Sanskrit, spirituality and sacred texts. I felt the time was coming for me to open a school of my own. Thus the birth of Balanced a HOT Yoga Studio. I currently hold classes that are a fusion of all these beautiful and effective techniques and every class is designed for the beginner body and more importantly the beginner mind... don't think, just breathe. Yoga is a method...and through this discipline we are creating freedom within our bodies...

Aixa L Belville, RYT
Associate Forrest Yoga Instructor

Aixa has been committed to a yoga practice for eight years. As a result of being an athlete from a young age her body became tight and out of balance. After trying different types of exercises she was not able to find anything that worked; something was missing. Then she found Yoga. Yoga was able to bring overall well being, mental clarity and balance to her life. Yoga inspired her to find her self and has opened the door for progress at all levels. It has given her the endurance to go through challenging life situations like personal experiences or long days at the office. Yoga has been a safe haven for cultivating self-love and self-acceptance. She believes it is the secret to life.

She completed the Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training with Ana Forrest & Jonathan Bowra in '06 & has recently assisted Ana Forrest at varoius workshops throughout the Northeast as well as the Forrest Yoga Continuing Education Training for Teachers (FYCET) held at West Hartford Yoga.

My intention with this practice is to help people overcome emotional & physical ailments that affect our life on a daily basis, such as lack of breath, a disconnection from our center of power (core), a lost or de-fragmented spirit, and living life in automatic pilot, which in turn paralyze us from: connecting with our wisest selves & gain overall strength/well being.  My goal is to guide people thru self-exploration, self-healing & graceful aging.

Kelly Codianna

Kellie Codianna found Hatha yoga at Pace University in 1995 and knew it was a gift that she wanted to give to others at some point in her life. Upon leaving her first yoga classes, she had never felt so connected to her mind and body. The feeling of pure motivation, being more focused and energized was so exciting. She continued her personal practice in the New Haven area, exploring different teachers and styles of yoga. She loves to challenge her strength and flexiblity and loves to deepen her practice by taking workshops and classes which assist with this passion. In 2003, she signed up for the Yoga Spirit 200 hour teacher training at the CT yoga center and was certified in march of 2004. Kellie's classes are modified to all levels, she will encourage you to work to your edge, but to know your limit, to breathe deeply, and allow the breath to work you into and out of the movement, to stay present and to move with gentleness and purpose. She encourages her students to open their hearts and relax their minds and bodies by letting go of old tension. In the past, Kellie had envisioned herself as some sort of therapist one day, as she holds a BA in Psychology. Upon completion of her 200 hour training, she began her 500 hour training , to become certified as Yoga Therapist. Kellie now also works privately with people to deepen their connection to their spirits.
